People, We Matter

It's a Bloggy kind of day.

I happened to stumble upon this recording. Where have I been to have missed this Imelda May? I well up and get teary when I experience music, melodies, and connections among people.

People find ways to connect even in isolation and in our darkest times. I think the real darkness comes when we can't connect or don't see a way of connecting. This happens, I believe, when we don't know who we are. I believe our struggles and emotional overwhelm get in the way of reaching out because we are stuck and not processing our stuff.

Not knowing you are NeuroDivergent is a headf#ck. For nearly every ND person I know, this is true.

Knowing we are ND and finding a secret community of others like us is healing and inspiring, and we can connect as our glorious selves.

Connecting can be in thought, in writing, virtually, massed together in a big group or 1:1. It can be occasionally and often. In ND World, we claim our needs from each other.

We comfortably say we can only stay an hour or hope for much more. We have an escape plan in case we are overwhelmed and are blunt, direct, and clear. We say no if we can't connect and cause no offence because of the clarity. Oh, the irony of us being considered unsociable, too much, too little, or rude.

We are free to be authentic. And that's what I experience in every tingle in my body when I watch a video like this, when I hear poetry, or when I watch performances: the raw, beautiful voices, the connection and thread that pulls these singers together even though they are not near each other.

NeuroDivergence aside, aren't we all just seeking connections with others and ourselves

Thank you, Imelda.
