The Dentist, my enemy. Hidden cost of NeuroDivergence. Sharing.

No one tells you about this stuff. So I will. This is just my perspective.

I just had a visit to the hygienist. Scraping and whizzing gadgets galore.

There is a link between poor dental hygiene and NeuroDivergence. Boring, time-consuming brushing, stuff to remember, yuk flavours, and stinging toothpaste. Gagging. That's all just brushing your teeth. Sensory hell.

For information, my teeth are beautiful. My gums are not. Teeth, however, are pretty useless if not still in your mouth.

Add in the Menopause (dry mouth, reduced saliva—saliva has a big role in mouth hygiene) and stimulant meds (err, more dry mouth), and you can tell why my gums are not happy.

Add in the shame of poor toothy peg hygiene (I avoided the dentist for a few years here and there), add missed appointments, and you can see why dentistry is not my favourite subject.

On my ADHD pages, poor dental hygiene is a common discussion. I know I am not alone.

Rubbish overwhelm headache now. Oh, joy, sarcasm.

Love from me and my very sore gums.

A picture of me in a teal T-shirt, wincing, unhappy, showing my lovely Teeth. And gammy eye. I have no idea why that's playing up.
